Road Sage - Origins

Dear Reader –

Thank you for checking out my newest creation, Road Sage, a TV drama (with a little comedy sprinkled in for good measure).  I am including an excerpt and a synopsis for your perusal.  I welcome any and all feedback.

One day in 2012, I was driving home from school when I caught a brief glimpse of an old, grizzled man leading a couple of pack mules on the other side of the freeway.  He looked like a miner out of an old Western – dirty, droopy hat, moustache, mules loaded with saddle bags, boxes and assorted tools.  It was one of those moments when you literally blink your eyes to make sure you actually saw what you think you saw. The next morning there was a brief article in the paper about this mysterious man and his mules.  I cut it out and stuck it in my desk drawer.  As I was in the middle of writing my first book, Ophelia, I didn’t have the time to pursue it.  However, it was an idea that intrigued me.

Fast forward to 2019 and my first book had been published.  I looked around for a new writing project.  The mysterious man and his mules called out.  I answered.  As soon as I started working on it, the story unfolded for me.  I never once struggled for ideas.  It soon became a process of whittling down and honing in on essential character developments and story lines. I must confess that this is a throwback to classic TV dramas of the 1960’s – Route 66, The Fugitive, Kung Fu. There are no computer graphics, witty banter or zombies in this show.  It is a straight-ahead drama about a man struggling with his past and seeking redemption while not knowing where to look.  The story has always been an archetype in our literature.  It is a story we can relate to and that intrigues us.  Enough said.  Read on……
